" MADE IN France "
The second exhibiton of Vasco Araujo at the gallery Gabrielle Maubrie is title " Made in France ". It consists of two installation.
The first one " Perruques " wig in french is made by a group of 8 wigs presented on separate bases. In each one, you can hear a recorded voice of a person who says why she uses a wig. These stories are tied to power, vanity or to social and culturel subjects.
The installation makes an ironique commentary on our society with a simple object. An object outside of our body, the wig serves to cover and at the same time show who we are in reality.
The second intallation, " Nature Vivante " is made of 15 frames. Assembled 3 by 3, is tells five stories from the book of Restif de la Bretonne titled " L’Anti-Justine ". It is advantures of a man of the 18th century libertin, and his mistresses, his wives, and his daughters who pass from his hands to the hands of his friends. These stories are covering compositions of dead insects, placed as if they where alive.
